2019 brought us so much growth: From working on reels and headshots, shooting our first short film, and moving across the country - with Hana in Los Angeles and Amber in New Mexico. With such a big change, we’ve needed time to adapt to our new settings and in doing so have taken a hiatus from Actor For Actor. With the new year, we’d love to share what we’ve been working on in our hiatus and what lies ahead!
Moving to New Mexico has been so refreshing, both personally and creatively. I took the summer as a point of readjustment and have since been working in local theatre and finding my artistic family of the SouthWest. I’ve had wonderful acting opportunities in shows like The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson and Seminar by Theresa Rebeck, and helped with makeup and costumes (with a small acting part) in A Christmas Carol. I’ve met some amazing people and reconnected with old friends and acquaintances during this time.
Some projects I’ll be working on this year include being the makeup artist for a production of the musical comedy Disaster! by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick and writing a new script to be workshopped with the acting students at San Juan College.
Moving to LA from NYC was much easier than I could have anticipated: endless sunshine (great for filming!), calm creatives and plenty of space. I spent the first half of the year getting adjusted to the flow of things while making new connections with agencies, filmmakers, and actors. I spent the second half of the year on music video productions (5 to be exact!) while putting together a new crew and collecting amazing location options. As for this year, I’m looking forward to getting back onto narrative sets. Some upcoming projects I have on the radar include assistant directing a road-trip themed short film and writing an experimental monologue series. I really feel that this year will be the most innovative and explorative and I can’t wait to see where we’ll go!
